SNSF call for proposals for the sixth round of the NCCR.

Call for proposals for the sixth round of NCCRs has been announced by the SNSF

As with the last round of calls, the Rectorate would like to support the submission of two to three elaborated project proposals. In deciding whether to support the projects, the Rectorate will base its decision on a corresponding recommendation from the Research Commission. The Research Commission would therefore like to invite researchers at the University of Basel to submit project outlines for applications for National Centres of Competence in Research by Friday 1 September 2023.

Project outlines should contain the following information (max. 5 pages):

  1. Topic of the NCCR, main research questions
  2. Expected scientific added value of the NCCR, potential for Basel and Switzerland
  3. Intended group leaders from the University of Basel
  4. Intended group leaders from other institutions (please specify institution)
  5. National and international positioning, analysis of environment/competition
  6. Additional infrastructure (equipment, research areas) and additional staff (professorships, assistant professorships, scientific MA) required for the planned NCCR.

The Research Commission will evaluate the project outlines at its meeting in September 2023. For this purpose, a short oral presentation of the projects by the main responsible persons is planned for Wednesday 20 September 2023 (afternoon from noon) for a selection of the projects - we ask the applicants to keep this date free.

The result of the evaluation by the Research Commission will be brought to the attention of the Rectorate together with the project outlines. Support for the preparation of successful project outlines for the project proposal is provided by the university research fund.

Project outlines should be sent to the Research Department (vr-forschung@clutterunibas.ch) by 1 September.
